The OMSI District vision, developed in collaboration with local, Tribal and regional government entities, nonprofits and businesses, will, upon completion, be a one-of-a-kind neighborhood – an inclusive community destination with innovation, culture, arts, science learning and climate action at its heart. Tribal input is led by the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission and The Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians.

Structured as a public-private-nonprofit partnership the OMSI District will be a city economic growth driver, while also enabling OMSI to sustain and expand its educational programming with partners for diverse audiences throughout Oregon. Included in the master plan are new retail, restaurants, and public green spaces as well as waterfront access and learning/technology installations, and 1,200 units of new housing with a minimum of 20% units for low-income families.

A Waterfront education park will be created in collaboration with Tribal governments and Indigenous communities that will honor people and place and includes the restoration of the riverfront habitat.
